I just saw a small Battlestar Galactica season 4 spoiler at SyFy Portal. I have to say that I'm a little annoyed at reading this piece of information.
Basically, the spoiler says that BSG is adding a new female character to the cast. Her name is Kendra Taggert (same initial as Starbuck, coincidence?
) and she's a Major who was stationed on Pegasus. Supposedly Major Taggert went a little loopy after the initial cylon attack (a la Starbuck?!)
I'm not thrilled at all that BSG would introduce a new character at this late stage. Ron Moore had already said that the show is moving into its third act in a 3-act structured play. I would much rather TPTB focus on the stories involving the main characters we all come to love and care about through out the years.
Also I'm a little annoyed at Ron Moore's propensity at recycling his ideas. Case in point: the much overly used flashbacks, the "head figures" that nobody else can see for multiple characters, the tendency to use intercut scenes, and now another loopy young female character...
I wonder if this new character is being setup to be the last cylon? Why else introduce a new character when the story is moving towards its finale? *sigh*

That's because I keep snatching your lovely creations!
I don't mind doing that at all, I've downloaded the form already. However I think it's quicker and easier if I just pay our tickets through PayPal. But before I do that, I want to confirm with you if you are interested in doing anything else at DragonCon, for example that dinner banquet thingy ($38 I think, and I'm not sure what's that all about)...

If we have to decide now, then just pick whatever strikes your fancy. That dinner sounds fine to me. Also, I assume you'd want some autogragh/photo thingie with Jamie and/or Katee?
Since this will likely be our first-and-only chance to attend any "con" I say we should just make the memories last!

Let me know if you go to that dinner-thingy. I don't know what that is about, either. Shawn doesn't want to go, and I know that Laurie got DragonCon tickets but not to the dinner. I need to send in my form this week so we can get the $60 rate!
Ooh, I'm excited about the prospect of meeting you!!!!

I just went online and booked the tickets for me and ClairdeLune for Dragon*Con. So yap, we are going!
I'm very excited at the prospect of meeting you and Laurie in person! I hope Jordayna gets to go too!
As for the dinner on Saturday, I'm leaning towards going since we have to find a place to eat anyway. But I couldn't pay for the dinner while I used PayPal to register for the Con, so I'll have to call them later. We may not have any control over whether we get to go--the seatings maybe all sold out by now.
I tried to book the Con Hotel, but the website says it's all sold out for those days.

We still need to talk about it some more, but with Shawn on jury duty during the day then owrking at night this week, it's making it kind of difficult. I will let you know as soon as we decided.

So you are planning to go to the Con sans the kids? That sounds really nice. Also it's nice that Shawn is going there with you!
Poor Shawn, jury duty is no fun!
Please keep me informed of your plan. Also maybe I should mention this at the Realm... Laurie is going to Dragon*Con too, isn't she?

I am mailing in the form this morning--I am torn about the guest banquet thingy. Shawn said we could go if I wanted, but I'm just not sure, especially since I don't know anything about it. I tried to look up info about past banquets, and didn't recognize some of the guests (although one year one of the people was Ray Bradbury). I'm thinnking now of not getting tickets for that, and then calling (like you) if I change my mind. Plus, the pics look like the dress might be a little nicer than casual, and I don't think Shawn would be into that! (he's a jeans kind of guy). I will definitely keep you up to date with our plans. Next I guess is I have to try to find a hotel!!!!

Let me know where you plan to stay!

I agree that this most likely be our first-and-only chance to attend a "con" so I'm inclined to attend that dinner on Saturday night. We got to eat somewhere anyway, and it might as well be Dragon*Con's dinner banquet--for that price, the food might be less desirable, but it's the experience right? The only thing is, I couldn't pay for the dinner through PayPal, so I would have to call the Dragon*Con office later. The seatings are limited, so we may not be able to attend after all.
I also checked the Conference hotel--Hyatt Regency Atlanta. FRAK!FRAK!FRAK! I acted too late--the hotel is all sold out during those days. The hotel website says Diamond Members are guaranteed availability. Geoff and I are members of Hilton chains. :( How about you? Would you by any chance be a Diamond Member at Hyatt chain?

Nope. Sorry. :(
No worries. We can camp on the streets. Or camp in the Four Seasons. Your call.

WOW! Four Seasons--that's really nice! Think we can get a room there?
p.s. I wimp out even camping in a tent, so street is definitely not going to happen!

I booked us for 5 nights (from Thursday to the following Tuesday) at the Ritz. Four Seasons is a bit too far, but this Ritz is only a few block from the Hyatt. I will e-mail the details separately so you can Google map.
No worries if you don't like it, want to change the dates, or want to stay elsewhere. I can cancel w/o problem. I just want to make sure we have somewhere to sleep, and Ritz is usually a good bet all things considered.

Thanks so much for doing this. I was stressed out thinking we are not going to find a hotel near Dragon*Con! *Phew*

I'll call the Con office tomorrow to see if I can still change it. I was planning on calling them anyway to find out more info about Saturday's banquet.

The guests of the Con (i.e. Jamie, Katee...) should be given the tickets to the banquet, but it's their decision whether or not they will attend. So there's no guarantee who's gonna be there.
As to the dress code for the banquet, she says she's seen people dress anywhere from shorts & Hawaiian shirts to tuxedos!
She also said seatings to the banquet should be available through June/July, but August is pushing it...
It would be fun if we all go to the banquet as a group, between you, Shawn, Laurie, Brad (is he coming too?),

Did you by any chance tell Laurie this? Is this something you guys want to do? I know Shawn would do it for me. Do they book the tables ahead of time, or is it get your seat as you come in? If they book it as you order, should just one person get all the tickets and then everyone else pay them back?
I will email Laurie about this. I don't know if Brad is coming (I don't know if he's decided yet).
OT--I joined the Sci-Fi site and was posting today in the Bunny thread. There was a really good discussion going on about Lee, his relationship with Bill, stuff with Dee, etc. I had mentioned you a couple of times (basically saying how much you love a good discussion and how much I love reading your thoughts) and I "met" a friend of yours. Her screen name is Liebestraume. She said she's known you for years!
Just let me know what you think about tickets to the banquet. It sounds like we have a little time to decide, but if we're going to do this, we should probably go ahead and get the tickets!

I meant to post a blurb at AR about going to Dragon*Con, but I keep forgetting to do so. I should let Laurie know soon, and I want to find out if she want to go the the banquet or not.
Speaking of Skiffy board, Liebestraume is ClairdeLune AND
She's having a "multiple personality" syndrome!
Thanks for letting me know about what's happening in the "bunny thread" at skiffy! I haven't been there in ages (well, since the season was over). Got to check it out. What screen name did you register there at skiffy?

I emailed Laurie a little while ago with the info you found out. I told her to let me know about the banquet.

I also asked about the dinner banquet. Basically, it's the "award ceremony" where they pass some awards to some of the guests, special guests, special special guests... Anyway, she told me that banquet tickets are given to the guests of the Cons, but it's entirely individual guest's discretion whether he/she choose to attend. So she can't predict who's going to be at the banquet.
At this point, there are still plenty of seatings available for the banquet. But she did say that based on how things are going, the banquet will be sold out this year. She can't swear for sure, but from her past experience working for the Con, she predicts they will still have spaces available in June and July, but August can be iffy.

Thanks for doing this, girl! Could you call her one more time to see if she could fit ClairdeLune and stilettos81 on that badge as well? You know, this way all my three personalities get to attend!
So, on to hotel ... looks like the homeless shelter is out, where so you want to stay?

Now I'm not going ot be able to sleep at the thoughts of it! :)
And X - I must know where you're getting your cool emoticons! I need some of those - lol!
Brad is too focused on our trip to Yosemite to think about DragonCon - in fact, I've been meaning to email you about that. We have to make reservations in only a few weeks! It's really slipped up on me. We have to decide a rough itinerary to know where we want to be when and all that. I would LOVE to come to see you, but Brad fears it's too far to drive. He wants to fly into Fresno. Is there a better (better as in CLOSER) airport? Could we fly into (or out of)somplace else and then not have to drive round-trip from Yosemite?
Sorry, that was a lot of questions! I'll try to email you tomorrow! :) I can't wait to meet you and Claire/Liebestraume/Stiletto (and I'm wishing I had a more clever user name - lol)

I'm excited just thinking about it! I'm sure we'll have a blast!
Here's the link to my photobucket emoticon folder (http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m49/xwacky/emoticons/). You should find all the emoticons I have so far. I'm still adding to it whenever I get new ones, but that's where they'd be located.
No worry! Fresno airport is the closest to Yosemite. That's over 90 miles away depending on which part of Yosemite you guys are going. Where are you going to stay--a hotel or camping? Anyway, Fresno airport is a little over 100 miles away from Monterey.
I'd love to have you guys to come & visit. It's fun here too--much different from Yosemite of course. We are members of Monterey Bay Aquarium, so we can take you guy there for free without the hassle of waiting in lines. You are planning the vacation in the summer next year right? So it'd be perfect for the beaches here. I think you, Brad, and the girls would really enjoy Carmel's white sand beach!
