Dear CW,

You guys are not cool. Really? One day before the scheduled return of Supernatural, and you pull this kind of stunt?

I've watched your network for years now because of Supernatural. I even had to switch satellite provider to find one who can give me a CW station because my local area doesn't have one. Yet you are making me feel you care not at all about fans like me.

I have made plans with my friend weeks in advance to watch the shows this Friday night together. Now guess what? My TV will not be tuned anywhere near the CW station. It's a good time for us to check out other shows that I've been meaning to take a look.

Oh, and I will not be tune in CW tonight anymore either. Nor next Thursday, the week after next, and so on.

I will still come back for Supernatural if you guys don't pull the plug on that. But given how you treated the show and its fans, I have no faith in you anymore.

They bumped the return of all new Smallvile and Supernatural to next week. Instead, they are showing a repeat of tonight's (Thursday night) episodes of Vampire Diaries and Nikita again in Smallvile and Supernatural's respective time slots.

No kidding. Someone also said CW was still showing ads tonight during its programs that all new Supernatural tomorrow night. But the news is all over the internet. Here are some of the sources:

It's beyond me why any network station will fill up two nights in a row back to back with IDENTICAL programs! Not only they are showing TVD and Nikita on Thursday and Friday nights, apparently they showed those two shows reruns on Wednesday as well.

This kinda reminds me of this infamous radio host a while back (in Austin, Texas actually) who filled one whole day's radio with only one song, play repeatedly over and over. Guess what? The station fired his a$$ the very next day.

Heh, according to the other local radio hosts talking about it on their station, the guy was trying to promote his favorite song. He was so passionate about it, he filled the airwave with nothing but the song within 24 hours. At least his station was smart enough to fire him after the stunt. Unless some head rolls on CW after this stunt, I'll file the network under "Dimwitted" for the time being. The silver lining of all this is, this way, I won't feel too bad when Supernatural finishes it's run -- I would gleefully exorcise the network from my household!

This is what they said:

A CW spokesperson said Thursday that the network wants to give 'The Vampire Diaries,' the CW's top series, more exposure when the returns from its winter break. Thus the decision to air it both Thursday (when it'll go up against 'Idol') and Friday (when fans who missed 'TVD' and 'Nikita' will be able to catch up with those shows). Another reason offered for the double airings of those dramas: There are CW pre-emptions Thursday in Chicago and Baltimore.

I'm not American I count for shit in their ratings, but we all understand they don't give a shit for Supernatural. I guess that's what happens when they take you for granted.
I think this is a shity thing. It fucked up my day.

While I admit to losing interest in SPN (I haven't even watched the last couple of episodes), I think this is a horrible thing to do and no way to do business. It's not like the CW is one of the "big three." I would think that they couldn't afford to lose viewers. I wonder who is making the decisions over there?

I'm sorry to hear Supernatural is loosing its appeal to you. In truth I'm having a huge problem with how they've messed up Sam's characterization to the point I can't find his motivation and logic. But I have to say in the midst of this soulless!Sam hype, Dean's characterization has never been richer and more developed.

Hee. The last two episodes you say? Well imho "Caged Heat" is a pass, I pretty much hated it, although there's a scene with Mark Sheppard vs. Mark Sheppard, and a scene between Dean and Samuel Campbell worth watching. But "Appoint in Sammarra" is so worth watching. It's even poetic with its A storyline. And I find the choice Dean made there marked a significant character growth. And most of all, watch out for the scene between Death and Dean. Gosh, I love Julian Richings to pieces. He and Jensen together make such compelling scene that you'll feel drama practically leaping out of the screen!

I actually have AiS recorded, but I just haven't watched it yet. I was very turned off once I found out that one of my biggest concerns was correct--that Sam had the worst hell experience of all time (well, except maybe for Adam who, as far as we know, is still there). And I'm in no way interested in seeing anything about his "wall." The most recent couple of interviews with SG hasn't given me much hope, either. I've started to read the reviews first--read what happened--and then decide if I want to watch it (that way I can fforward through anything I don't really care about seeing).

Actually, I have a ton of problems with the characterizations of both brothers, which is making it difficult for me to watch the show.

I have read about the Dean/Death scene, and given what you said, I may just fforward my VCR to that scene to see it!

On the part regarding CW, I find it moronic to fill 2 nights in a row with absolute IDENTICAL programs. And their spokensperson's reason for doing it is so silly that they are inducing some cracktastic mocking:

Me too. I hope too. They announced the schedule but who knows they won't have another change of heart. This feels very much like the network is plotting for Supernatural's demise.

At the back of my mind (the conspiracy theory loving part), I can't help wondering if this wasn't some contract negotiation strategy at work. Not too long ago, the soon-to-be stepped down head of CW Dawn Ostroff announced the very likely pick up for Season 7. But I'm not sure if Jensen and Jared's contracts are current.

This kinda reminded me of what happened years ago to the other show I watched: "The Guardian". In the middle of season 3, the shows writer/creator David Hollander's contract with CBS was ending (at the end of S3). The show was in fact produced by Sony Television, and promoted/broadcast on CBS. At the time, rumor had it that Hollander was leaning towards signing with Sony Television instead. The head of CBS Les Moonves pulled TG off air in the middle of the season and replaced it with the then new show "Century City" (a terrible terrible show). CC lasted only 3 episodes because the rating just tanked. CBS brought back TG and Hollander announced he signed with Sony Television. Right after that, CBS announced the cancellation of TG at the end of season 3.

It doesn't bode well for me that CW is partly owned by CBS. >:(

Your conspiracy theory is not so, well, wacky ;)

We'd like to believe art's for art's sake, but the reality is all of them are in it for profit - the network, the production company, the writers, and the actors. Or there wouldn't be contract dispute.

Surely the new episode will come back next Thursday, and I hope you'll enjoy it to the fullest. Don't worry about what will become of the show months down the road - live in the moment, that's my new motto. :D

We are boycotting everything else on CW except the Supernatural! We are even going to watch the reruns to support my show. ;)

By the way, did you know we are to participate in Nielsen's Survey for February Sweep?
