xwacky: Dean from Supernatural (yay!)

This morning, on the way to work, I overhead on the radio a quote from Michael Jordan on failure:
I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
If only I can learn from my mistakes as well as he did.  Still, hearing this does de-stress me somewhat, and makes me want to try those things I was afraid of doing... *g*

This is a wonderful quote. I've seen in teaching that the students who are afraid to make a mistake are the ones doomed to stagnation and learn very little. Every new skill comes with the risk of messing up.

Isn't it just? I showed this quote to my son as well, to encourage him try new things. Too often we stop doing something because we are afraid of messing up, or don't know what to do. Sometimes, all it takes is to start doing, messing around, to learn a new skill. :)

That is indeed inspiring. Learning from mistakes, trials and errors, that's how we grow up :)

Yeah, "trials and errors" are the operative words!

I showed this quote to my son as well. *g*

Yay for feeling inspired! I love that feeling and I don't get it often enough!

I hope you can get around to doing those things you're too afraid to do. :-)

Heeee, when I posted this entry on Friday, I fully intended to try ice-skating at friends' son's birthday party on Saturday. As it turned out, I chickened out... :(

But *whisper* maybe I'll get a start on that fanfic I had in my head (only the beginning scene so far), but was too afraid to write...

Heee, thanks for the encouragement. I'm really bad at flushing out an entire plot in my head. Although the hiatus is making me itching...

How about I'll work on mine and you'll work on yours? ;-)

Perhaps you should put that plot to paper so it's not all in your head then. ;-)

Deal! I think I'm edging closer and closer to the end of mine, so fingers crossed I actually get it finished sometime before s5 starts!

Btw, love the icon! lol

Good idea. I probably should start writing up an outline, or at least jotting down that scene in my head before it fades...

Congratulation on almost finishing up yours! *excited*

I can't wait to read it. =p

Yes, I always have to write down ideas that pop into my head or else I lose them forever!

Thank you! I'm still a bit anxious about this one, it's a bit of a mess at the mo. I need to find a beta to read it over.

I'm by no means good at this, but I'm happy to be a fresh set of eyes to read over your story if you need a beta. You can send me the file to my yahoo email (with the same user name here). *g*

Aw thanks sweetie! I'll bear that in mind when I finally get around to fishing it! :-)
