Got my iPhone today. Been sucked into downloading different apps. I'm most impressed with all the free "books" that are available. I got the entire works of Shakespeare (I think it's all there) on my phone. How crazy is that?
Anyway, I'm trying this livejournal app to see how easy it is to post here.
Since everyone is talking about Michael Jackson's passing today, I must chime in to say I was SHOCKED. First I heard about Fawcett lost her battle with cancer this morning. Then I read about Jackson's death in the afternoon. What a day! I've been seeing reports all afternoon and evening about ppl had trouble getting on livejournal, Twitter, and wikipedia. Makes me wonder if it's because of Michael...

That's true. A celebrity comm I follow also experienced that.

So far, besides Shakespeare, I have downloaded Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Alice in Wonderland, The Wonderful World of Oz, Gulliver's Travels, 2000 Leagues Under the Sea, Paradise Lost, Iliad, The Count of Monte Cristo, Treasure Island, The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn, etc...
I am so amazed all these "books" fit on this small palm sized phone, and they are all FREE! For whomever wondering if iPhone is a better choice, this alone ought to convince the doubters! ^_^
And re MJ, if his "spirit" knew his death broke the internet, I wonder how it would feel...

Those are a lot of books! How big is the capacity?

That was nothing! I got almost the entire 4th season of Supernatural on it as well! ;-)

I was shocked to hear not only Fawcett's death, but MJ's in the same day!

Yesterday was a strange day, and a little sad...

Yes it was, it seemed to be all everyone was talking about.

I got the 32 gig memory one. So beside all these "books", I also have most of the season 4 SPN episodes on it too. Hubby was rolling his eyes yesterday and commented I wouldn't have time to read all these books. I told him that's okay 'coz I read most of them already. It's just fun to flip through certain passages whenever I feel like it. :)
I was never a big fan of either Fawcett or MJ. But I still felt sad, especially with mj. Although I gotta say I also agree with the cynical view expressed in a tweet I saw yesterday, that Irania politicians have mj to thank for for diverting attention away from them!

Same here, I'm too young to of known Fawcett in her CA days, I know more about her hair then her. The same goes for MJ, I never grew up during the height of his career, I only knew the wacko Jacko period of his career. But they were both icons that impacted on a lot of people, it's so sad how they suddenly went. Oh and that cynical view does have a resonance to it.

MJ's turn out was tragic. Long before his death. I've always thought he was so wacko because he tried to hold his youthfulness, in voice and everything else. Who can hold time as hostage and not be loopy?!

No, I didn't think of giving it a cute name. It got a boring "Jane's iPhone" instead. O.o
But, I couldn't put it down! There are so many cool apps out there. And of course, I put almost the entire 4th season of Supernatural on it! :p
The lj-app is pretty much for posting and answering PMs. To view the entries, you'll still need Safari. I can't quite decide whether it's better than directly posting from Safari yet. It is a little faster I think, however, you are forced to use the html editor instead of the rich text editor that is available when posting from a web browser. The thing bugged me is once an entry is made, you can't use lj-app to make corrections. To edit the entry, you'll still have to use the browser.
Oh me too! I thought the news about mj was a hoax when I first read it, except my source was AP.
I was sad too, and I wasn't a huge fan either (to both Farrah and Michael). But they each in their ways influenced an era. For them to die in the same day, it felt like a definitive closure to the bygone days.
