I'm pushing this old entry back to the top to update the list of stories I've read so far.  The stories are listed in the order I read them.  I'm a slow reader, and there are so many wonderful stories to choose from from this year's Big Bang!  But of all these I read, I love them...

Summary: Sam is trying to become the Antichrist in order to save the world. He has a small army of angels and demons, he has an adoring cult, he has a work of prophecy by Jack Kerouac, and he has Dean. Things are going pretty well until he accidentally signs Dean up as his Beloved Consort, a role that requires sex with the Antichrist on an altar. And that's when things stop going pretty well. Also, the soundtrack to the Apocalypse sucks.

My Notes: fleshflutter has been one of my fav writers.  This one departs from her usual fares but doesn't disappoint one bit. It's funny as hell, at the same time angsty, sexy, and romantic in an off-beat way.  Often than not, she sent my head spinning with her clever timings.  The story is told from Sam's POV, and I find her Dean precious beyond words.  She also manages to make me like (literally) Ruby and Uriel.  The way it's written, I might just cheer Sam as the Antichrist!

My Notes: This is the fic that I did fanart for. All I can say is I feel ever so lucky to land on such a talented writer. The best part of signing on to do art work for BB is I get to have a sneak preview at the fic before anybody else! In this story there is the requisite romance, spiced up by a little mystery and angst. It's a story of two hearts reconnect after years apart. While reading it, I kept thinking Law of Attraction, and Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation. Think I'm full of BS? Well, I'll give out this much: in the story, Jared gave up his acting career (there's a reason for that) and became a high school Physics teacher!

But either Jensen missed that memo or fate seems to have other ideas, because nothing works out the way Jared planned. Based loosely on S1 of "How I Met Your Mother", but you don't need to have seen that to know what's going on.

My Notes: This is an adorable story of first time romance. It is wrought with bad timings and missed opportunities. The author kept the tension alive throughout the story. But when two people so obviously belonged to each other, it doesn't matter how much they deny it, or the universe may seem to conspire against them, they'll find their way to each other in the end. Cliche or cheesy? Not really because it's a tale of love and friendship, told in a sitcom style.

What he discovers along his hysterical journey is a sick fascination with fanfiction, more about gay sex than he ever wanted to know, and an even deeper obsession with understanding why people write this stuff. Meanwhile, they're hunting a mysterious monster that takes the form of a person's truest love to kill them slowly,the lines between reality and fanfic have begun break down, and if all that wasn't enough, they still have to try to stop Lilith and save the world.

My Notes:  This one cleverly harpooned wincest in the fandom. The descriptions of Dean, Sam, and LiveJournal were spot on. The supporting cast of Castiel and Chuck added extra chuckle through out. top!Dean and bottom!Sam for the most part.

My Notes: I laughed so hard reading this, my stomach was clenching, my chest rumbled while tears streamed down my face. The story has an unique angle of telling the J2 romance through Chad's eye. ROFLMAO! what a voice Chad had.  Chad + Couch = best OTP ever! ;-)

Warnings: AU. Mentions past abuse: some physical/emotional child abuse and BRIEFLY touches sexual but VERY VAGUELY!
Summary: When rich boy Jensen Ackles decided to get out from under his father's thumb and run away from home he didn't expect to be robbed in broad daylight, mistaken for a hooker, beaten up by a tattooed maniac and have his life saved by a really cute street kid. All in one day.  Jared Padalecki on the other hand didn't expect to be thrown in jail for his trouble.  As love stories go, this one didn't exactly have the best beginning.
(This is a modern, non-magical take on Disney’s Aladdin where Jared is the street rat, Jensen is the rich boy from The Hills, Tom and Mike are the evil lawyer and his crazy lackey, Chris and Steve are the ones that come to the rescue and Chad is a monkey Chad.)

My Notes: The only thing magical about this story is the writing.  No exotic lamp, no flying carpet, and no blue genie that sounded like Robin Williams. There were wishes that came true, but those were from the protagonists' own doings rather than a mystic power. Jared's rags to riches journey was thrilling, but it was Jensen's transformation from a pampered rich kid to a man following his own dream had me most engrossed. And author's reinterpretation of "A Whole New World" had me LOL.

So starts the hunt for a monster they’ve never seen; barely even heard of. Par for the course, almost nothing goes as planned. Witnesses, tag-along’s and death converge on a Manor House where fear reigns. For the Dead Keep Naught and the Winchesters have no intention of letting death win.

My Notes: This story is filled with angst.  Although the hunt is a thrilling backdrop, the real tension of tale lies with the brothers' newly advanced relationship. In this, Sam is both protective and jealous; where as Dean, the less assertive of the two (of the relationship), is a bit insecure regarding to what Sam really wants.

Summary: Dean learned to play the piano at his mother’s knee. Now, fifteen years after her death, his talent for music is a secret he keeps from everybody, especially his father. Stuck in a small town for the rest of the school year, looking after a brother who’s growing apart from him, and training for a future of hunting that he’s not sure that he wants, Dean finds an unlikely confidant in an elderly Jewish man who’s haunted by his own secrets. It’s a year of firsts, hunting alone and falling in love, but when a monster from the tragic past starts wreaking havoc on the people of the town, Dean must come to terms with his own fears and desires in order to save the people he cares about the most.

My Notes: This is a truly lyrical piece, with well thought out plot and characterizations. The OMCs are complex and fleshed out. One of the OMCs, James, is reminiscent of Jared. I can easily picture a young school uniform clad Jared as James, the boy with whom Dean developed a special bond. Warning: non-canon characters death.

Summary: This is what happened to Jared Padalecki when he mixed a little Cyrano with a little Shakespeare and fell ass over feet in love with Jensen, his Shakespeare tutor…who may have been in love with someone else.

My Notes: By far, my favorite College AU so far. The author cleverly and aptly tied Shakespeare and Latin into the story. I can't imagine Jared and Jensen be any different if they are in College. *g*

Fic title: With You Under A Cold, Bright Sky (Currently Reading)

Back together as grown men, they try to create a new future, with new dreams, on a cold mountainside on the other side of the world.

My Notes: A grand coming-of-age, boys-turn-into-men story. It's hitting my heart in all the right places. The rosy future for the boys when they were so young and the world seemingly at their feet, the tragedy that struck when life decided to throw them a curve ball, the despair and lonesomeness they had to deal with in the face of adversity, I'm loving every part of what I've read so far. This is the story I know for sure I'd go right back and read a second time as soon as I reach the end.

I've read #1 and #3, and is currently reading this. I didn't want to read that at first because oh man, merman!Jared? But then somebody I know said it was good so I'm giving it a try. I know that the author is good.

Whoo, you finished #3? Did you like it? That merman!Jared is on my list to read because I really liked the artwork. But I'm with you, I don't know how I'd feel with Jared being a "fish" =p

Yes, I'm reading two at the same time. O.o Well, sorta. I started with #3, and the LJ page is loaded on my laptop. But then I had to go somewhere, and #4 came highly recommended. After finishing fleshflutter's crack!fic, I was very much in the mood for another humorous one, so I loaded #4 on my Blackberry. The first chapter was so so funny, I almost died laughing.

I finally read 'The Accompanist'. Took me that long to read it because not only it was Dean/OMC, I also thought that old man was the one who was going to be Dean's love interest in the story. But I've almost run out of big bangs to read so I read that one yesterday and I enjoyed it! It was beautifully written, but oh my, it's so sad when James died, pooor, poor Dean.

Btw, what does the word the accompanist actually mean? The person who accompany the main player in a group of musicians?
