Went away with family and friends to South Lake Tahoe this weekend. Despite the warm weather, hubby and I took our son to the slopes at Heavenly on Saturday. We had loads of fun! It's the first time I wasn't cold while skiing. Tahoe didn't get much snow this year. Fortunately for us, two days before we got there, it snowed 2 inches.

We took Heavenly Village Gondola up to the slopes. It was a gorgeous ride--long and steep with an unobstructed view of lake Tahoe. When we got up to the top, we found out there weren't any green slopes nearby. We had to take a blue trail to get to the California side where all the green slopes are located. By the time we got over there, my son was so used to ski on the blues, we decided to stay on the blue trails anyway. We skied at Heavenly twice before. But we stayed around green slopes most of the times. This is the first time ever we got to the top of the hill at Heavenly, and realized the views along the trails were spectacular!

Again, these shots were snaped using my cellphone since we didn't bring our camera!

The only drawback for the day was I got terribly sunburned on my face because I forgot to bring sunblocks. %-\  Silly me--I only associate sunblocks with beaches.  By the time we went to dinner, my face looked like a lobster!

Speaking of lobster, we went to a fantastic restaurant on the 16th floor of Harrah's Casino called The Summit.  We had a full course meal paired with different wines.  There was so much food that I couldn't even finish my scrumptious lobster entrée--I had to save some room for the dessert--it was Grand Marnier Soufflé!  Yum!

It's now Monday, and my whole body is sore!

X--I love your pics, and your little one is adorable! Tahoe is beautiful (we went for our honeymoon, although it was in the summer). Sounds like you had a blast!

Mick, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, we had a blast. :) I've never been to Tahoe during the summer time. Although we've been contemplating going back there in July.

It was my fault that we had to wait till the end of ski season to go ski--I flat out refused to go away for the weekend while BSG was showing new episode on Sundays--Bad me!

Oh, that sounds like sooo much fun! (except for the sunburned part! Ouch!) Andy looks adorable in his ski clothes :) And the Tahoe area looks gorgeous. I'd like to go there some day...

Sounds like a great weekend!

Tahoe looks gorgeous...I'd never thought of California as having snow and mountains, because I have this preconceived idea from Tv that it's always sunny.

That's assuming Tahoe is in California of course...my US geography is rather dodgy...!

Your US geography is pretty good! Tahoe straddles between both California and its neighboring state Nevada. The place where we stayed is right near the border on California's side. However right across the street on its left (if you are standing facing the mountain) is Harrah's Casino (Nevada allows gambling). One time we each grabbed a bottle of beer they served on the casino floor, and was drinking it as we walked. It was fine on the Nevada side since the state allows people with open alcoholic drinks on the street. I didn't even think about it when we crossed the street to the California side, but my friend hauled me back to the Nevada side to finish the beer--I would've gotten into trouble with the law if police saw me with the open bottle on the California street!

There are snows around Tahoe because it is high up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. California's west side is Pacific coastline and its east side is mountainous area.

How confusing! I'm glad we don't have different laws in the counties here - I live around the borders of three, so it would be very confusing.
