xwacky: Dean from Supernatural (spn dean)
([personal profile] xwacky May. 14th, 2009 11:43 pm)
Just came back from watching Supernatural's season 4 finale at friend's house.  Well, it blew me away!  I don't want to say much right now other than I think Dean is made of awesome, and he is pretty.  Uhm, like very pretty.

I'm sure I'll have more things to say when I organize my thoughts and speculations better after a good night sleep.

Also thank you [profile] dreams_of_honey for an awesome discussion earlier in the day.  Turned out what we talked about became quite relevant tonight. :)

OMG, did you see? They killed Ruby TOGETHER! Team Winchester FTW! And they apologized to each other! Each of them first! And then they clung to each other's jackets! *iz made of squeeeee*

Yes! TOGETHER! Ruby killed! ::dance::

And what she said... *the bitch* totally in line with what I thought of her, and what I thought of Sam. I love how well things fit together. I like the fact Kripke actually PLAN things in advance, instead of making things up as he go along... like you know who. ;)

I so wanted to hear Sam apologize to Dean. I didn't think I'd hear it until Fall, but I was pleasantly surprised. :)

And the jacket clinging... Ahhhhhhhhh *iz made of awesome*

ETA: Oh, and I'm glad Bobby didn't die. Not because I love Bobby (I do), but because finale belongs to the boys, nobody should steal tear-jerks away from them!

Kripke is evil like that. He will twist our souls, make them bleed, but in the end he'll give us something that will keep us hanging till the Fall. Do you realize how many people would give up on the show if it ended before the apology (and The Cling)? Because of those few seconds of HOPE we will all faithfully return in a couple of months to worship at his altar.

Yeah, Kripke's plan is much much better that YouKnowWho's. ;) But I have to admit I was even more blown away by "Lost" S5 finale. The emotional impact of Lost is much less than SPN, that's true, but on the intellectual level? Makes me want to re-watch two seasons worth of Lost, lol. /end OT

This? WORD.

You got a good point there. I was very worried last week there wasn't enough time to make the brothers find their way back to each other. But Kripke did. And it was good.

However, I also think that despite these nice imagery of the brotherly love, Dean and Sam are on the opposite sides more than ever.

Dean is firmly slated on the Heaven's side, whether he likes it or not. And it isn't a coincidence Sam has to be the one to break Lucifer free. What comforts me though is Dean's words to the angels: he cares not of the battle of H&H. He's only concerned with watching after his family, and he'll take and accept Sam whatever way he is. ::sniff::

I've never watched Lost. I was a little scared away by J.J. Abram's reputation. But I've noticed and appreciated SPN never tried to be more clever than what it is. It delves in for the emotional impact, with a side of a careful planning of the backbone story arc. I don't like a show to be gimmicky. And SPN never was. Even with episodes like "Monster Movie", "Yellow Fever", "Jump the Shark", "Monster at the End of the Book", etc, there was solid and honest story-telling.

I don't think Dean is on Heaven's side any more. He was told there's no God, God left the building. And he knows angels are not exactly human-friendly. I think it's the Winchester Brothers fighting evil and good alike. With a little help of Castiel and maybe Kripke Chuck Shurley.

Never said Dean would be willingly on the angels side. But it was not a throw away I think to bring up (and have Dean stare at) the image of archangel Michael TWICE now. So I think the angels weren't lying that Dean is destined to "stop" Lucifer.

And I was wrong to say Zachariah is in league with Uriel. He's more like an over-eager general who's anxious to go to war thinking they have the arsenal (Dean) to win the battle. He isn't human friendly, but he and his angels' main enemy are Lucifer and the demons. Regardless how Dean feels about these heavenly creatures, he'll have to fight Lucifer/demons as well, especially since he and his brother each had a hand in bringing the apocalypse.

The question is will Sam be on the same side with Dean. Sam was a little too hypnotized by the coming Lucifer for my comfort. Since S2 he's hailed by the demons to lead the demon army. I'm a little afraid Lucifer will try to control Sam, forcing him doing things he doesn't want to do.

Also we know Sam was turned into a Demon while killing Lilith. But after that, he lost his mojo. But does that mean he's not a demon anymore? Or was he a demon without much power?

Frakking awesome indeed!

*Loved* the boys, especially DEAN! *g*

I just finished my brain dump on the episode. Check out the next journal entry. I also posted it at the SPN Board. :)
